Job Description

About the Role One of my local government clients is seeking an organised and proactive Administrator to join the Environment Department at Carmarthenshire County Council on a temporary basis. This role provides vital business and financial support to ensure our department runs smoothly, compliantly, and effectively. You will support a range of administrative and finance-related functions, including payment processing, personnel record management, audit compliance, and reporting. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills Key Responsibilities * Provide financial and administrative support to contribute to the department’s effectiveness. * Process creditor and debtor payments in line with financial regulations. * Input staff personnel records, including absences and payroll data. * Maintain accurate financial and administrative records to comply with audit requirements. * Prepare management information reports for line managers. * Update systems and records to ensure information is accurate and timely. * Review and process costing information for management reports. * Liaise with contractors, clients, and colleagues as required. * Monitor shared mailboxes and calendars, responding in line with corporate policies. * Handle telephone enquiries and provide a high standard of customer service. * Carry out general office duties including correspondence, filing, and mail. * Support line managers with reasonable ad-hoc requests. About You We are looking for a detail-oriented administrator with strong organisational and IT skills. Experience in financial administration, record management, and office support would be advantageous. Essential skills and experience: * Previous administrative experience (public sector desirable). * Knowledge of financial processes and record keeping. * Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
