Westholme School, a leading independent school in Blackburn, is seeking a dedicated Admissions Officer to join our thriving team on a Fixed-Term Maternity Cover contract. This is a full-year, 40-hour per week role, vital to our continued growth and success, starting as soon as possible. Driving Pupil Recruitment & Experience: As our Admissions Officer, you'll be at the forefront of our pupil recruitment efforts, serving as a prominent public representative of Westholme School. You'll be instrumental in creating an exceptional first impression and guiding prospective families through every stage of the admissions journey, from initial enquiry to enrolment. Your sales-focused approach will be key to ensuring the school operates at full capacity. This is a high-impact role requiring exceptional communication, organisation, and a genuine belief in our school's ethos. You'll be directly accountable for converting enquiries into visits and registrations, contributing significantly to the school's sustained development. Your Impact on Our School Community: Sales & Recruitment Focus: Proactively build strong, lasting relationships with prospective parents and pupils, showcasing the unique benefits of a Westholme education. Admissions Process Management: Oversee the entire admissions lifecycle, from initial enquiries, detailed record-keeping in our Management Information System (MIS), to managing visits, assessments, offers, and enrolment. Exceptional Customer Service: Provide a welcoming and informative experience for all enquirers, whether via phone, email, or in-person visits. Data & Analytics: Maintain accurate and up-to-date admissions data, utilising statistics to inform and refine recruitment strategies. Event Management: Play a crucial role in planning, preparing, and executing key admissions events such as Open Mornings, Taster Days, and exhibition events. This may involve occasional evening and weekend work. Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with the Head of Admissions, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), academic staff, and feeder schools to ensure a seamless admissions process and foster strong relationships. Scholarship Administration: Assist with the application process for Scholarships at all levels, coordinating assessment days and related events. New Pupil Induction: Ensure new pupils and their parents receive all necessary documentation and support for a smooth transition into Westholme. Whole School Engagement: Develop a thorough understanding of the school's academic and pastoral offerings, attending school events to fully grasp the Westholme experience. Skills & Qualities: Proven Sales or Recruitment Experience: Demonstrable success in a sales or customer-facing role, ideally within an educational or service-oriented environment. Exceptional Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the school's vision and values compellingly to diverse audiences. Highly Organised & Meticulous: A strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and maintain accurate, confidential records. IT Proficiency: Confident in using databases and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with school management systems (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, iSAMS) is a significant advantage. Proactive & Adaptable: A self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Professional & Confidential: Capable of handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
