Adult Social Care Lawyer
Northwest Local Authority
Contract: 3-6 months - likely to be extended
Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE
Fully Remote
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a local authority in the northwest. You will manage a complex and rewarding caseload while providing high-quality legal advice to officers, elected members, and key partners. You will also act as an advocate for the Council in court, tribunals, and statutory hearings, playing a key role in protecting and supporting vulnerable individuals across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a varied caseload, covering all aspects of Adult Social Care law.
Represent the Council in courts, tribunals, inquiries, and statutory hearings.
Provide specialist legal advice and training to clients, committees, and panels.
Draft and negotiate complex legal documents and manage external legal support where necessary.
Key Requirements
A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
Significant post qualification experience in Adult Social Care Law including Court of Protection Welfare Applications, Ordinary Residence Disputes and Section 21A Challenges ideally within a local government setting.
Advocacy experience before courts or tribunals
Knowledge of Children's social care and Health law would be advantageous.
