We are seeking an experienced Advisory Teacher to join a Virtual School to support the educational progress of children in care and previously looked after children. You will work closely with schools, social workers, carers and senior leaders to identify barriers to learning, implement targeted strategies and ensure every child receives high quality educational support and guidance.
The role involves delivering high quality training, supporting Designated Teachers, overseeing Personal Education Plans, contributing to school improvement, and providing intensive casework for a designated cohort. You will play a key role in promoting achievement, attendance and wellbeing through effective intervention, relationship building and evidence based practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide intensive casework and direct support for children and young people looked after.
Ensure high quality Personal Education Plans are completed within statutory timescales.
Advise, support and challenge schools and professionals to improve educational outcomes.
Deliver training to school staff, carers and social workers.
Track progress, attendance and attainment using data systems and reporting tools.
Develop and deliver bespoke learning programmes and enrichment activities.
Support placement stability, reduce barriers to learning and promote positive engagement.
Work with multidisciplinary partners, traded services and voluntary organisations.
Contribute to school improvement priorities and raise standards across key stages.Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Degree 2.2 or above.
Minimum two years mainstream teaching experience across at least two key stages.
Strong understanding of education and social care legislation relating to children in care.
Experience influencing school practice and improving educational outcomes.
Excellent communication, presentation and relationship building skills.
Confident using data, tracking systems and writing reports to deadlines.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a complex caseload.
Ability to work collaboratively, challenge appropriately and act as an advocate for pupils.Additional Information:
* Enhanced DBS with Children and Adults Barred List required.
* Travel is required, including visits to children placed out of borough.
