Job Title:
Mental Health Support Worker
Job Purpose:
The Mental Health Support Worker will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals with mental health needs. This role involves working closely with service users to promote their recovery, independence, and well-being, while ensuring their safety and dignity.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver personalised support plans that reflect the individual needs, choices, and goals of service users.

Support service users in their daily living activities, including personal care, medication, meal preparation, and community access.

Build trusting relationships with service users, offering emotional support, guidance, and companionship.
*
Monitor and record progress, reporting any concerns or changes in mental health to the relevant healthcare professionals.
*
Encourage participation in social and recreational activities to promote inclusion and well-being.
*
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support.
*
Adhere to safeguarding procedures and promote the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals in your care.
*
Assist in crisis situations, applying de-escalation techniques and following agreed intervention strategies.
*
Maintain accurate records, including care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
*
Uphold confidentiality, dignity, and respect at all times in accordance with policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Experience:

Experience in providing support to individuals with mental health needs or other complex needs.
*
Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
*
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and bank holidays.
*
Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and person-centred care principles.
*
Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting individuals through their recovery journey.
Desirable but not essential
*
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
*
Mandatory training in areas such as medication administration, safeguarding, first aid, and de-escalation (can be provided by employer).
*
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
*
Experience working in supported living or residential care settings
