Agent – Highway Construction & Maintenance
Package: Up to £52,000 + Company Car, 25 days holiday (+bank hols), Sick Pay, Pension Scheme etc.

Are you ready to take ownership of impactful projects and play a key role in shaping Colchester's highways? We’re seeking a dedicated Agent to oversee the successful delivery of highway schemes, from inception to completion, across multiple work streams. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working collaboratively, and have a strong background in highways construction, we want to hear from you!
Projects the Agent will lead on:
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Surface Water Alleviation Schemes (SWAS), S106 Schemes, Inlay Surfacing, Surface Treatments, Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS), Local Highways Panel (LHP) Schemes, and Footway Schemes.
What You'll Do:
As an Agent, you’ll be responsible for ensuring projects meet health, safety, and environmental standards while managing teams and delivering high-quality results.
Your role will include:
Leading multiple schemes across surfacing, transport systems, and infrastructure improvements
Directing site supervision, issuing permits to work, and conducting inductions
Overseeing Sub-Agents, Supervisors, and Apprentices—developing their skills and career growth
Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, RJ policies, and quality standards
What We're Looking For As An Agent:
We need a proactive and experienced professional with:
Full UK driving license (essential)
HNC or equivalent qualifications (essential)
CSCS, NRSWA, and SSSTS/SMSTS certifications (essential)
Proven experience in the highways construction industry (essential)
Expertise in working near underground services (preferred)
Member of a professional body (preferred)
