Location: Slough, SL3

Salary: up to £32,000 DOE

Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30

Air Import Gateway Operator Overview

My client is looking for an experienced Air Import Gateway Operator to join their busy and growing air freight operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in air freight imports and gateway operations who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating consolidated air import shipments from arrival through to final delivery, ensuring all customs, airline and customer requirements are met while delivering exceptional customer service.

Air Import Gateway Operator Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage daily Air Import Gateway operations from arrival through to final delivery.
Monitor inbound schedules and ensure prompt processing of import shipments.
Arrange deconsolidation of master air waybills (MAWBs) into individual house air waybills (HAWBs).
Prepare, review and process all import documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Liaise with airlines, handling agents, overseas offices, customers and transport providers to ensure smooth shipment movements.
Coordinate customs clearance activities, working closely with customs brokers to minimise delays.
Ensure all import entries and supporting documentation are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Arrange final mile deliveries with approved transport providers.
Monitor shipment milestones and proactively communicate updates to customers.
Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally, providing effective solutions to customers and stakeholders.
Process job costing, supplier invoices and customer billing accurately within agreed timeframes.
Maintain accurate shipment records within the freight forwarding operating system.
Ensure all KPI and service level agreements are achieved.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer service.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, airlines, overseas partners and internal departments.
Air Import Gateway Operator Requirements

Previous experience within Air Freight Imports or Air Import Gateway Operations.
Strong understanding of air freight import procedures and gateway operations.
Working knowledge of HMRC Customs procedures and CDS entries.
Experience handling MAWB and HAWB documentation.
Knowledge of IATA regulations and airline procedures.
Experience using CargoWise, ASM Sequoia, Descartes or similar freight forwarding software.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
