Air Quality Consultant - Oxford - £35,000 to £45,000 + Benefits + TOIL
A well-established UK-based Environmental Consultancy is seeking an experienced Air Quality Consultant to join their team in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically competent consultant with 2-5+ years of experience to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across planning, permitting, and emissions assessments.
Essential Criteria:
A degree (BSc or MSc) in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Atmospheric Science, Geography, or a related field.
2-5+ years of consultancy experience in air quality or emissions work.
Strong knowledge of UK air quality legislation, planning frameworks, and industry guidance (e.g., LAQM, IAQM, EPUK).
Proficiency with air dispersion modelling tools (e.g., ADMS-Roads, ADMS 5, AERMOD).
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience delivering air quality assessments for planning, permitting, or industrial projects.
Strong report writing and client communication skills.
Familiarity with GIS, DEFRA emission tools, or transport emissions modelling.
Working toward chartership or membership of IAQM/IES.
The Role:
You'll support and manage the delivery of air quality assessments for a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and industrial developments. The role is primarily desk-based, with opportunities for client engagement, modelling, and report delivery, while contributing to a growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Running air dispersion models and interpreting monitoring data.
Writing technical reports for planning and environmental permitting.
Supporting junior consultants and assisting with project coordination.
Liaising with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
Ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high technical standard.
This is a full-time, Oxford-based position, offering hybrid flexibility, a competitive salary (£35,000-£45,000), company pension, bonus scheme, and a Time-Off-In-Lieu (TOIL) system instead of paid overtime-designed to support work-life balance.
