Interim Allocations Officer
Shropshire
3–6 month contract | £15–17 per hour | 37 hours per week
Are you an experienced Allocations Officer who knows how to keep a lettings service moving smoothly, fairly, and fast? If you’ve worked in allocations within a social housing provider and you’re ready to jump into a busy interim role, this could be a great fit.
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded housing organisation in Shropshire, seeking an Interim Allocations Officer to support their team through a key period. You’ll be central to ensuring homes are allocated efficiently and applicants receive a clear, supportive service throughout the process.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll manage a varied and active caseload, handling allocations from start to finish, including:
* Working within a Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system to allocate properties
* Verifying applicant ID and eligibility in line with policy and legislation
* Phoning applicants to guide them through the application process and resolve queries
* Managing multiple stages of the allocations journey, ensuring timely progress
* Maintaining accurate records and updating systems throughout
* Processing terminations of contract and progressing cases accordingly
* Liaising with internal teams and external partners to keep allocations on track
What we’re looking for
To hit the ground running, you’ll ideally have:
* Previous allocations experience within a social housing provider
* Strong working knowledge of the allocations process and housing policy
* Confidence handling sensitive conversations with applicants professionally and empathetically
* The ability to prioritise and manage a busy, varied caseload
* Good IT skills including Microsoft Office packages and Teams
* A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail
