Job Description

Allocations Officer Ashford 12 Month Temp Full Time Join a respected Housing Association in Ashford as an Allocations Officer, playing a key role in delivering fair and effective housing allocations and supporting applicants through the housing register process. THE ROLE As an Allocations Officer, you will be responsible for assessing housing register applications, allocating council and housing association properties, and ensuring all lettings comply with the organisation’s Lettings Policy. You’ll provide accurate and empathetic housing advice to applicants and maintain up-to-date records to support efficient service delivery. Key Responsibilities: Process and assess housing register applications through Kent Homechoice, including medical and financial circumstances. Advise applicants on achieving the best possible housing outcomes. Allocate Council and RSL properties in accordance with Lettings Policy. Respond to general housing enquiries from applicants and partner agencies. Liaise with external agencies, including Social Services, regarding housing applicants. Carry out regular reviews of the housing register and maintain accurate records. Ensure void times are minimised by working collaboratively with Repairs and Housing Management teams.THE CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a housing or allocations environment, with strong communication and decision-making skills. You’ll be confident managing a busy caseload and providing high-quality advice and support to customers. Essential Requirements: Experience working directly with customers in a housing or public sector setting. Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of housing allocations and lettings processes. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and in-house housing systems. Confident decision-maker with strong interviewing and assessment skills.THE CONTRACT Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (office-based at least 3 days per week). Length of Contract: 12-Month Temporary Assignment. Pay Rate: £16.91 per hour LTD / £14.51 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay).
