Responsibilities and duties of the Health & Safety Manager role
Reporting to the Operations QHSE Lead you will:
Lead the development and implementation of HSE strategy and supporting tactical plans.
Act as a key advisor to leadership on safety, occupational health, and wellbeing matters.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including CDM 2015, guiding duty holders on their responsibilities.
Provide technical expertise across the full project lifecycle, including process safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA).
Promote and embed H&S best practice across all business functions.
Monitor HSE performance, analysing trends and driving continuous improvement actions.
Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations
Support supplier onboarding and qualification from an H&S perspective.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align systems with operational risks and business needs.
Engage with external bodies including regulators and emergency services to ensure effective compliance and response planning.
Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent H&S qualification.
Knowledge of ISO standards, particularly 45001.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within engineering, construction, or process environments, with anaerobic digestion or gas production experience advantageous.
Experienced with CDM, COMAH, DSEAR, ADR, GSMR, regulations.
Personal skills
