A fantastic opportunity has become available to join a busy Quality Department as an Analytical Method Development Chemist. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical chemistry expertise, hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation, and a passion for developing and validating robust analytical methods to support new and existing projects.
About the Role
In this varied and technically challenging position, you will play a key role in ensuring laboratory equipment is maintained to the highest standards while leading analytical method development and verification activities for new products. You will collaborate closely with QC teams, support troubleshooting, and contribute to continuous improvement across quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all QC instruments are calibrated, maintained, and fully fit for use.
Develop, verify, and validate analytical methods for new projects.
Create Standard Test Methods (STMs) for newly developed methods.
Train analysts on new R&D methods and STMs ahead of production rollout.
Oversee timely renewal and cost optimisation of equipment service contracts.
Operate, calibrate, and check analytical equipment in accordance with good laboratory practice.
Assist in investigations of equipment or material failures under the guidance of the Quality Control Manager.
Manage and monitor stock levels of reagents, parts, and spares; ensure reagent shelf-life compliance.
Support the validation of standard operating procedures.
Prepare and dispatch small customer samples as required.
Perform analytical testing to support process improvement and QC procedure development.
Set up test methods and specifications for new products within internal systems (e.g., LIMS, ERP).
Provide analytical shift cover when required.
About You
To succeed in this position, you should be able to demonstrate:
Strong understanding of a broad range of analytical chemistry techniques.
Proven competence in analytical method development and validation.
Experience in analytical instrument troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of laboratory software setup, configuration, and data backups.
Proficiency in specific analytical techniques (where applicable).
Understanding of environmental monitoring techniques (where applicable).
Knowledge of deviation reporting and Out-of-Specification (OOS) procedures.
