The Applications Engineer will play a critical role in bridging the gap between engineering, production, and customer-facing teams. This position requires a strong background in packaging machinery and materials, with the ability to manage customer trials as full-scale projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, support product implementation, and ensure optimal performance of packaging solutions on customer lines
They are responsible for providing technical expertise and support to customers and internal teams by understanding their requirements, designing tailored solutions, and ensuring the successful implementation of their products and services. This role acts as a key liaison between the sales, engineering, and product development teams to ensure customer satisfaction and drive business growth through effective application of their technology.
Key Accountabilities:
· Customer Support & Technical Expertise: Provide expert advice and technical support to customers and internal teams, addressing product-related queries and troubleshooting issues.
· Solution Design: Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to analyze customer needs and design customized application solutions that meet those requirements.
· Product Demonstrations: Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions for customers and internal staff.
· Project Management: Oversee the implementation of application solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the customer’s satisfaction.
· Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, proposals, and reports to support sales and project activities.
· Feedback & Improvement: Gather feedback from customers and relay product performance and improvement suggestions to the product development team.
· Collaboration: Work closely with sales, engineering, and support teams to ensure seamless communication and delivery of solutions.
· Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and the company’s product offerings to provide the best solutions.
Skills & Competences:
Strong engineering background with hands-on experience in packaging machinery and application processes
· Proven experience and understanding of different types of processing machines.
· Good knowledge of the materials we supply and how they interact with different methods of processing.
· Excellent fault-finding skills to determine whether any potential application problem is material or machinery based.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage challenging customer interactions.
· Willingness to spend time away from home on customer visits both locally and internationally as required to fulfil the role.
· Ownership of the trials assigned and managing the full process, within the companies production process and through to customer line approval.
Desirable:
· A good understanding of flexible packaging materials and their associated application.
· Good communication skills at all levels (customers and colleagues / peers)
· Technical / engineering qualification – preferably degree standard
