Approved Premises Worker - Graduate Opportunity Location: Oxford, Clarks House Approved Premises, 7 Clarks Row, OX1 1RE Pay: £16.39 p/h PAYE / £21.59 Umbrella (enhanced night & weekend rates) Hours: 37 per week (rolling rota including nights & weekends) Type: 6 months (with possibility of extension) Start your career in Probation and Criminal Justice RSR Justice, a specialist recruitment provider to the criminal justice sector, is recruiting Approved Premises Workers on behalf of the Probation Service in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates who have studied subjects such as criminology, psychology, sociology, social work, or related fields, and who are keen to build a career in probation or criminal justice. In this hands-on and rewarding role, you'll gain valuable frontline experience supporting residents in an Approved Premises setting - helping to manage risk, promote rehabilitation, and ensure a safe environment. What you'll do: Supervise and support residents, ensuring safety and compliance with rules Carry out building checks, monitor CCTV, and maintain secure curfews Respond calmly to incidents and challenging behaviour Conduct room searches, support medication routines, and assist with inductions Be a key contact point during night shifts and emergencies Maintain accurate records and incident reportsWho we're looking for: We welcome applications from graduates and early-career professionals who are passionate about working in probation and criminal justice. You may have studied areas such as: Risk assessment and offender management Substance misuse and addiction Mental health and safeguarding Rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders Criminology & Criminal Justice Psychology (particularly forensic, clinical, or counselling) Social Work / Social PolicySome relevant work or voluntary experience would be desirable but not essential - this could be in roles such as: Housing or homelessness services Mental health or substance misuse support Youth work, social care, or community support roles Security or frontline public-facing positionsMost importantly, you'll be: Reliable, observant, and calm under pressure Comfortable working varied schedules (including nights/weekends) Motivated to build a career in probation or criminal justiceWhat's in it for you: Competitive hourly pay, with enhanced rates for nights & weekends A structured rota offering predictable shift planning (3 days in, 4 days off) Experience in a critical public sector setting A stepping stone towards roles such as Probation Services Officer or Probation Officer Opportunity to work alongside criminal justice professionals and build your networkInterested?
