Job Description

My client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding international lighting business, renowned for innovation and quality. Since 1984, they’ve been at the forefront of energy-efficient lighting, developing the highly successful brand - now sold in over 40 countries through the electrical wholesale channel. Their global reputation is built not only on great products, but also on exceptional customer support. We’re now looking for an ambitious and energetic Area Sales Manager to join their Midlands team. The Opportunity This is a field-based sales role, reporting directly to the Northern Regional Director. You’ll take ownership of a well-established territory - covering Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, and Nottinghamshire - managing and growing an existing portfolio of electrical wholesale customers. In addition to nurturing wholesaler relationships, you’ll work alongside electrical contractors to support project needs and drive brand awareness. We’re seeking a confident and proactive sales professional with a proven track record in account management—ideally within the electrical or wholesale sectors. Key Responsibilities * Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale branch managers, trade counter teams, and procurement staff * Implement and maintain a monthly call schedule to ensure consistent engagement with accounts * Identify and pursue local project opportunities, managing your sales pipeline efficiently * Provide product guidance and training to support wholesalers and their customers * Partner with local contractors to enhance the visibility and adoption of the product range * Collaborate with internal technical and customer service teams to deliver a seamless experience * Attend trade shows and industry events to represent the brand and network * Analyse and report on territory performance, providing insights and variance analysis against targets You’ll be expected to present updates and initiatives at monthly team meetings, sharing insights and success stories across the sales division. What You’ll Bring * Previous experience selling into or working within electrical wholesalers (lighting experience is a plus, not a must) * Excellent relationship-building and communication skills * Strong commercial awareness and the ability to analyse sales data * Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a drive to exceed targets * A structured, disciplined approach to account management * Passion for sales and a reputation for following through on commitments You’ll need to live within or near the designated area and be comfortable with regular travel across the territory. What’s on Offer * A competitive base salary of around £45,000 + performance-based bonus * Company car, laptop, mobile phone, and company credit card * Private health insurance (Vitality – single cover after 6 months) * Company pension with up to 5% employer contribution * Death in service benefit * Reimbursed expenses * 22 days holiday plus bank holidays (increases with length of service)
