ARP Lead Teacher Location: Dagenham Start Date: Immediately Contract Type: Permanent Tags: SEND, ASC, ARP, TEACHING Are you an experienced teacher with a passion for Autism education? Do you have the leadership skills and specialist knowledge to guide a highly successful Additional Resource Provision (ARP)? Would you thrive in a nurturing, structured and forward-thinking provision dedicated to pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)? If so, this is an exceptional opportunity to lead specialist ARP for children with ASC. The Role Lead high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring provision is personalised, structured, and aligned with pupils’ individual needs. Oversee and contribute to the delivery of our three curriculum pathways (pre-formal, semi-formal, and formal learners). Deliver daily small-group sessions focusing on communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and engagement. Work closely with the ARP Manager to maintain consistency, develop practice, and uphold high standards across the provision. Support inclusion by planning meaningful and regulated opportunities for pupils to access their mainstream classes. Lead and mentor a team of teachers and teaching assistants, modelling best practice in ASC teaching, sensory approaches and communication strategies. Liaise with outside agencies (including Speech & Language Therapy, Inclusion Advisors and Educational Psychology) to ensure each child receives holistic support. Contribute to assessments, track progress and maintain high-quality documentation that reflects pupils’ communication, sensory, emotional and academic development. The Provision It's well-established Additional Resource Provision with up to 12 places for children with a primary need of ASC. A highly structured, nurturing and child-centred environment where emotional, sensory and regulatory needs are prioritised. A dedicated staff team (two teachers and four teaching assistants) who know the children exceptionally well and work collaboratively across the ARP. Strong leadership support from the ARP Manager and wider school senior leadership team. Regular specialist training in Autism practice and access to multi-agency input to help every child thrive. A valued part of a Primary School, with strong links to mainstream classes and the wider school community. Key Requirements Qualified Teacher Status with substantial experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition. Strong understanding of ASC pedagogy, sensory regulation approaches and communication strategies. Proven ability to lead, coach or develop a successful team. Experience planning and delivering personalised learning within SEND pathways (pre-formal, semi-formal or formal). A nurturing, reflective and child-centred approach with a commitment to emotional and sensory wellbeing. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with families, staff and external professionals. Highly organised, proactive and confident in decision-making. Why Join?
