The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and compassionate Art Teacher.
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for using art and creativity as a way of engaging children and young people, helping them to express themselves, develop confidence and experience success.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated Art lessons that are accessible to pupils with a wide range of abilities and needs.
You will be expected to create a calm, supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe, valued and encouraged to take creative risks.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons tailored to individual pupils' abilities, interests and needs.
* Adapt teaching approaches and resources for children with ASD, ADHD, attachment needs and trauma-related difficulties.
* Develop pupils' artistic skills, creativity, confidence and self-expression.
* Provide a broad range of creative experiences, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media and other appropriate art forms.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
* Work closely with teaching, pastoral and therapeutic staff to support pupils' wider development.
* Use positive behaviour support and trauma-informed approaches within the classroom.
* Monitor and assess pupils' progress and contribute to individual learning plans where appropriate.
* Encourage pupils to take pride in their work and celebrate their achievements.
* Maintain high expectations while recognising and responding sensitively to individual barriers to learning.
* Contribute to the wider life and creative development of the school.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* A qualified teacher or an experienced and suitably skilled Art practitioner/teacher.
* Passionate about Art and creative education.
* Patient, nurturing and emotionally attuned.
* Confident adapting lessons for pupils with additional needs.
* Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children who may have experienced trauma or disrupted attachment.
* Calm and consistent when managing challenging situations.
* Creative and enthusiastic, with the ability to make learning exciting and meaningful.
* Flexible and willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* Resilient, reflective and open to learning and professional development.
