Protocol Education is working in partnership with a well-established SEND school in Shrewsbury to recruit a dedicated Artistic Youth Worker. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in the arts, drama, or creative therapy to bring their skills into a purposeful and rewarding setting.
The school takes a holistic approach to learning, supporting pupils with complex needs including autism, SEMH, and behavioural challenges. All students have an EHCP, and the school provides a calm, structured environment with individualised support plans in place.
The Role:
As an Artistic Youth Worker, you’ll work both 1:1 and within classroom groups to support student development through creativity. You’ll help pupils engage with learning, express themselves, and build confidence using artistic and sensory-based approaches.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting students’ emotional and educational development through creative strategies
Using drama, music, art, or movement to help pupils communicate and stay engaged
Collaborating with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning plans
Promoting a positive, inclusive classroom culture
Helping pupils regulate emotions and participate meaningfully in daily routines
Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience or qualifications in the arts, drama, creative therapies, or similar
Has worked with children or young people with SEND, particularly ASD and SEMH
Is adaptable, empathetic, and confident in dynamic environments
Brings creativity and care to every interaction
Is committed to promoting wellbeing and inclusion in education
