Job Description

We are working on behalf of a respected housing provider in East England to recruit an experienced Asbestos & Water Hygiene Surveyor. This role is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of delivering a high-performing compliance service across a diverse housing and communal property portfolio. Job Purpose You will be responsible for ensuring asbestos and water hygiene compliance meets statutory, regulatory, and best practice requirements. Acting as the organisation’s specialist in these areas, you will oversee contract delivery, provide expert technical advice, and ensure all works are completed to the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities * Lead on the operational delivery of asbestos and water hygiene services in line with all statutory and regulatory requirements. * Oversee contractors to ensure performance meets contractual obligations, taking corrective action where necessary. * Act as the organisation’s subject matter expert for asbestos and water hygiene, offering advice to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders. * Manage and monitor asbestos and water hygiene risk assessments, ensuring timely completion and follow-up works. * Support budget setting, monitoring expenditure, and reporting on key performance indicators. * Assist in developing policies, procedures, and management plans to improve compliance services. * Contribute to procurement, mobilisation, and demobilisation of contracts. * Assist in the design and implementation of digital and IT systems to enhance service delivery. * Maintain strong customer focus, ensuring complaints and enquiries are handled promptly and professionally. * Ensure accurate records and compliance documentation are kept up to date. Health & Safety * Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation. * Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others. * Promote a positive health and safety culture across all activities. * Report and investigate incidents, including near misses, in line with policies. Knowledge & Skills – Essential * In-depth knowledge of asbestos management and water hygiene requirements. * Strong understanding of statutory, regulatory, and best practice compliance standards. * Excellent contract management skills. * Highly developed analytical and data interpretation skills. * Clear and concise communication, with the ability to explain technical information to a range of audiences. * Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise competing demands. * Competent in IT, project, and budget management. Experience – Essential * Proven experience in asbestos and water hygiene management within housing or related sectors. * Delivery of high-performing compliance programmes. * Managing multiple contracts within a formal contract management framework. * Procurement and mobilisation of contracts. Qualifications – Essential * BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings. * ACOP L8 Water Hygiene qualification. * HNC in Building Construction, Building Surveying, or a related field
