A dynamic and supportive Alternative Provision in Barnoldswick, Lancashire, is seeking an Aspiring Deputy Head to join our dedicated team on a permanent contract, starting in September 2025. The Role: Aspiring Deputy Head This role is designed for a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to alternative education, ready to develop their leadership skills under the guidance of our Head of Provision. You will play a crucial role in: Supporting Strategic Leadership: Working closely with the Head of Provision to drive the vision, values, and strategic development of our AP. Curriculum & Teaching Excellence: Assisting in the oversight and enhancement of our bespoke curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning that meets diverse student needs (SEN, SEMH). Pupil Welfare & Behaviour: Supporting the implementation of effective behaviour management strategies and contributing to a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for all students. Staff Development: Contributing to the mentoring, support, and professional development of our dedicated teaching and support staff. Operational Management: Assisting with the day-to-day running of the provision, ensuring smooth operations and efficient resource management. Safeguarding: Playing a key role in upholding robust safeguarding procedures and ensuring the well-being of all pupils. Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with parents, carers, mainstream schools, and external agencies. What We're Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable. Proven experience of teaching within an Alternative Provision, SEN, or SEMH setting is highly desirable. Demonstrable experience of leadership responsibility within an educational environment (e.g., Lead Teacher, Coordinator, TLR holder, Senior Teacher, Assistant Head). A strong understanding of the challenges and rewards of working with vulnerable and disengaged learners. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. A resilient, adaptable, and proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement. A deep understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
