Assessment EHCP Coordinator
Salary: £31,283 – £37,181 per annum
Location: Medway (Hybrid – office attendance required 3 days per week)

About the Role Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Medway Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Education, Health and Care (EHC) Assessment Coordinator to join our dedicated team.
In this key role, you will manage the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process and ensure the production of high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) within statutory timeframes. You’ll work across all educational phases—from Early Years to Post-16—ensuring that each plan is tailored to meet the aspirations and needs of every child or young person.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse and fast-paced caseload of EHC assessments.
Draft outcome-focused EHCPs informed by comprehensive assessments.
Work collaboratively with education, health, and social care professionals.
Provide clear, regular communication with parents, carers, and schools.
Use data to inform decisions and drive improvements in service delivery.
Represent Medway Council at co-production sessions, Ways Forward meetings, tribunal support, and other operational discussions.
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
What We’re Looking For
Previous local authority experience is essential.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with parents, carers, and professionals with empathy and professionalism.
In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory processes.
Confidence working both independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
Additional Information
This is a full-time hybrid role – you must be able to attend the office 3 days per week.
As a customer-facing role, applicants must meet the language requirements outlined in Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, demonstrating a proficient command of spoken English/Welsh
