We are delighted to announce exciting opportunities for registered healthcare professionals to join our team as a Functional Assessor here at Ingeus, part of the global human services provider APM Group.
Is this the role for me?
We provide a thorough training programme to support your journey to become an approved Functional Assessor, so this role is ideal for those who are open to a formalised program of retraining and who are receptive to ongoing constructive feedback, ensuring our claimants continually get the very best experience.
However, while many clinicians find the role of a Functional Assessor rewarding, it’s not the right fit for everyone. Producing high-quality written reports plays a critical part of the role of a Functional Assessor. Whilst we can support your development, having confidence using computers is essential for navigating systems and software, as is the recognition that you will be required to complete detailed assessments for all claimants you assess.
If you’re unfamiliar with technology or dislike writing comprehensive reports, this role may not be the best match for you. As a Functional Assessor, you will not be involved in diagnosis or hands on treatment. If this is something that is important to you, this is unlikely to be a role you will enjoy.
- Are you passionate about helping others?
- Do you have 12+ months of UK-based post registration experience as an NMC registered adult Nurse or HCPC registered Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Paramedic?
- Are you interested in a job that allows you to use your clinical skills in a different way whilst keeping your clinical registration?
If so, then joining Ingeus UK as a Functional Assessor may be the perfect opportunity for you. From your first day, you’ll join a welcoming and skilled team and be supported through specialist training delivered by our Learning Academy, which includes one-to-one coaching, mentoring and workshops to guide you towards achieving full DWP accreditation.
Our culture treats everyone with dignity and respect, ensuring that every individual is comfortable, confident, and recognised for the value of their contributions.
We’ll give you the tools you need to give you the best transition journey into your new position, as well as supported virtual and self-directed CPD. In addition, you’ll get access to a wide range of development opportunities include gaining experience in other areas such as Training Lead, Quality Lead and Clinical Practice Lead positions. Of course, this also includes opportunities across other clinical and healthcare business areas within the wider APM Group.
What we can offer you includes:
- Bonus scheme worth up to 10% of your salary
- £2000 Colleague Referral scheme
- Supported/paid CPD for clinicians, registration fees reimbursed
- 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
- Private pension scheme
- Private Medical insurance
- Maternity and Parental Leave
- Online shopping discounts
- Variety of other financial and lifestyle options
As a Functional Assessor, your primary responsibilities will be:
- Carrying out Functional Assessments that look at a range of different activities relating to physical, mental, intellectual and cognitive functions, to determine whether an individual could reasonably be expected to work or undertake work related activity
- Using decision making skills to conduct clinical triage of completed forms and supporting documents to decide the route a case will take.
- Obtaining additional evidence needed, through active listening and appropriate questions.
Apply critical thinking and logical reasoning to produce accurate and detailed reports for submission to the Department of Work and Pensions.
- Liaise with a range of clinical peers across the NHS and private healthcare sector, charities, and support organisations to obtain and evaluate evidence that assists in the production of detailed reports.
- Collaborating with colleagues to provide high-quality service to claimants and contribute to the continued improvement and service excellence of health assessment services in the UK.
What we are looking for:
- At least 12 months UK-based post registration experience as an NMC registered adult Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC registered Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Paramedic.
- Experience of treating a wide range of physical and mental health conditions.
- Strong critical thinking, active listening and logical thinking skills
- Good typing skills and proficiency in IT tools for documentation and communication
