The Role:
As the Asset & Compliance Lead, you will lead the organisation’s approach to statutory compliance, planned works delivery and asset intelligence. Acting as the lead officer for property compliance and building safety, you will ensure all landlord responsibilities are met, risks are well managed and investment decisions are evidence‑based, delivering safe homes and value for money. The role includes line management responsibility and regular reporting to senior leadership and the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Building Safety
* Lead delivery of the Big 6 compliance areas: Gas, Electrical, Fire, Asbestos, Water Hygiene and Lifts.
* Ensure all statutory inspections, servicing and remedial works are completed on time.
* Maintain accurate, auditable compliance records and dashboards.
* Act as organisational lead for compliance and building safety legislation.
* Lead the strategic and operational response to damp & mould, aligned with national guidance.
Planned Works & Asset Investment
* Lead development and delivery of annual and multi‑year planned works programmes.
* Ensure investment decisions are data‑led, cost‑effective and aligned with stock condition intelligence
* Oversee procurement, contract management and contractor performance.
* Manage compliance and capital programme budgets and prepare investment business cases.
Asset Data & Stock Condition
* Lead the asset data strategy, ensuring accuracy, completeness and reliability.
* Manage the stock condition survey programme and data integration.
* Ensure asset data supports compliance monitoring, investment planning and reporting.
Leadership, Governance & Assurance
* Line manage two staff, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
* Produce compliance, risk and performance reports for senior leaders and the Board.
* Lead audits, maintain risk registers and ensure strong governance frameworks.
* Provide expert advice to senior leaders and external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong experience in property compliance, asset management or building safety.
* In‑depth knowledge of the Big 6 compliance areas and relevant legislation.
* Experience managing planned works or capital investment programmes.
* Knowledge of damp & mould management and regulatory expectations.
* Experience managing asset data, stock condition surveys or compliance systems.
* Proven leadership skills with experience managing staff and contractors.
* Strong commercial, analytical and communication skills.
Qualifications & Additional Requirements:
* Professional membership (CIOB, RICS, IWFM, IFSM) desirable.
* NEBOSH, IOSH or similar H&S qualification desirable.
* Experience within social housing, local authority or property services environments preferred.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
