A client within the Public Sector based in Merseysside is currently recruiting for an Asset Building Surveyor to join their Delivery Services/Place Services/Construction & FM team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a building surveying environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to be responsible for a sector of the Council’s building programme requiring considerable initiative, experience, and project management ability. The role includes specification, quality assurance, programme delivery, audit, and procurement matters.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Undertaking investigations, inspections, and surveys of Council properties and preparing detailed condition surveys of individual buildings.
• Managing programme delivery and administration of contracts to completion.
• Following procurement processes in line with the Council’s Contract Procedure rules.
• Providing advice to schools and building managers regarding building maintenance and projects, including delegated funding responsibilities.
• Liaising with client departments, senior management, school heads, governing bodies, and contractors to deliver building projects.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety law, relevant legislation, and Council policies.
• Preparing reports, cost estimates, orders on the Concerto system, and maintaining accurate financial and project records.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent.
• Experience of working with, and managing, contractors on site.
• Extensive knowledge of planning and building regulations.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Professional Construction qualification (MRICS, CIOB) or BSc Building Surveying.
• Experience in construction design within the public sector (e.g., schools, leisure centres, listed buildings).
• Knowledge of working with framework arrangements, Quality Assurance, and MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and Access.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £70 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £60 per hour PAYE).
