Job Advert: Assistant Buyer
Are you meticulous, organised, and ready to kickstart your career in procurement? We're on the hunt for an Assistant Buyer to join a successful Birmingham-based customer.
In this essential role, you won't just be processing paperwork; you'll be the backbone of their purchasing operations. You'll ensure every order is accurate and on time, helping them build strong relationships with their suppliers and keep everything running like clockwork.
This business will provide training and development to become a Buyer within 2 years.
What You'll Be Doing:
Handling the essentials: You'll be creating and processing purchase orders, making sure every detail aligns with business guidelines.
Checking twice, buying once: Reviewing requisitions will be key - ensuring everything is approved and documented correctly before orders go out.
Connecting the dots: You'll be their point person with vendors, confirming order specifics, prices, and delivery times to keep things flowing smoothly.
Keeping tabs: Tracking and updating the status of all purchase orders, from shipment to delivery, will be part of your daily duties.
Team player: You'll work closely with other departments to understand their needs and make sure their purchasing requirements are met.
Problem-solver: When issues pop up with pricing, quantities, or deliveries, you'll be on it, finding solutions quickly and efficiently.
Record keeper: Maintaining pristine records of all purchasing transactions in our systems will be crucial for their operations.
Supporting the bigger picture: You'll assist with audits by providing all the necessary documentation, and team up with Accounts Payable to sort out any invoice or PO mismatches.
Proactive follow-up: You'll keep an eye on open orders and chase up anything that's overdue.What They Are Looking For:
Some experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations is essential.
Familiarity with purchase order and inventory management systems.
A keen eye for detail and accuracy is a must
Great organisational and time management skills are essential in their fast-paced environment.
You should be comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Strong communication skills are vital for working with both vendors and internal colleagues.Even Better If You Have:
Experience in a manufacturing or specific industry setting.
A basic understanding of accounting and invoice processing.
