Job Description
I have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Assistant Buyer to join a well-established retailer within the fashion sector on a 6 month basis, supporting the Buying team during a period of maternity leave. This role will suit someone with a real passion for product, strong organisational skills, and the drive to contribute to the success of a fast-paced buying department.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams including Buying, Merchandising, and Quality Control.
Collaborate with Creative and Ecommerce teams to ensure product and brand alignment.
Support the Buyer in adapting styles relevant to the area of responsibility.
Lead and present in critical path meetings, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
Assist with product development, including price negotiations and supplier communications.
Contribute to building ranges that attract the target customer, balancing price, quality, and design.
Analyse sales and performance across retail and online channels to inform trade decisions.
Manage day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure efficient buying processes.
Monitor competitor activity to maintain commercial awareness of market trends, products, and pricing.
Stay organised with key diary dates to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
The Ideal Candidate
1–2 years’ experience at Assistant Buyer level.
Previous product area experience desirable but not essential.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify future fashion trends.
A real passion for product and a good understanding of the current retail market.
Highly organised, proactive, and adaptable.
