The role of the Assistant Driver Manager:
To support our growing operations, we are seeking an Assistant Driver Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong organisational and people management skills, who thrives in a fast-paced transport environment.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Driver Manager:
Assist the Driver Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the driver team and coach scheduling.
Monitor driver performance, conduct spot checks, and assist with disciplinary or training matters where required.
Liaise with drivers regarding vehicle allocations, maintenance requirements, and route information.
Ensure all compliance standards are met, including tachograph analysis, DVSA regulations, and company procedures.
Assist with driver recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development.
Support with customer service queries and operational delivery for private hire and contract work.
Provide cover and operational support to the wider transport and fleet management team as needed.
Track and analyse lost mileage, network issues, and operational performance data to identify areas for improvement.
Investigate incidents, complaints, or service failures and implement corrective actions.Skills required of the Assistant Driver Manager:
Experience in a transport, coach, or logistics operational management role (essential).
Strong knowledge of driver hours, Working Time Directive, and DVSA compliance requirements.
Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
Confident in using transport management systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekend or out-of-hours support.
