Job Description

Assistant Engineer - Structures Location: Bristol Rate: £33 per hour Contract: Initial 12 months   Role Overview:   I'm working with one of my local authority clients in Bristol who are looking to bring an Assistant Engineer (Structures) on board for an initial 12-month contract. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of structural design and maintenance, particularly within a highways or local authority setting. You'll be supporting the delivery of various capital works and helping to manage and inspect structural assets across the network.   What you'll be doing:   ·Assisting with structural design for maintenance, improvements, and strengthening of existing structures ·Supporting the design of new structures in line with current codes of practice and European standards ·Checking designs and supervising construction of developer-promoted structures ·Overseeing works on road restraint systems ·Preparing Approval in Principle (AIP) documents in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) ·Assisting with project management across the council's capital programme ·Participating in Principal and General Inspections of structures   What we're looking for:   ·Experience working on structural assets, ideally within a highways or local authority environment ·A good working knowledge of current codes of practice and Eurocodes ·Familiarity with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), particularly around AIP preparation ·Previous involvement in inspecting structures or working on inspection programmes ·Ability to review and supervise developer-led structure designs and construction ·Experience or awareness of road restraint systems is an advantage ·Comfortable managing your workload, working to deadlines, and collaborating across teams ·Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a practical approach to problem-solving FOOTNOTE:  If you feel that you are right for this role technically, but the rate, location or seniority does not suit you specifically then please still feel free to send us your CV.
