Job Opportunity: Assistant Management Accountant (6-Month FTC)
Location: Andover
Salary:£35,000 -£37,000 pro rata (depending on experience)
Our client is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. If you're analytical, Excel-savvy, and eager to grow your finance career, this is a fantastic opportunity, this role would suit a confident and curious individual who thrives on delivering high-quality financial insights.
Please note, this role is based in Andover but you will also be required to attend other offices in Dorset.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting with monthly management and annual statutory accounts
* Supporting the preparation of budgets and forecasts
* Providing financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders
* Performing balance sheet reconciliations
* Managing journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
* Conducting variance analysis and ad-hoc financial reports
* Extracting and manipulating data from financial systems
* Identifying and supporting process improvements
* Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal deadlines
* Preparing external returns and reports
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Strong analytical and organisational skills
* Excellent communication and time management abilities
* A proactive mindset and desire to challenge the status quo
* Strong all-round IT capability with advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, lookups)
* Ability to extract and work with data from finance systems
* Experience in financial or management accounting, budgeting, or financial reporting
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise effectively
Qualifications:
* Educated to GCSE and A-Level standard (including passes in Maths and English)
* AAT Level 3 or above, or a relevant degree (preferred)
* Currently studying or interested in studying for ACA, CIMA, or ACCA (desirable)Before You Apply
