Job Description

Assistant Pavement Engineer I am working with a leading consultancy in the transport and infrastructure sector who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Pavement Engineer to join their Highways team in Perth. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop technical expertise, gain exposure to a wide range of pavement and asset management projects, and progress towards becoming a fully qualified engineer within a supportive and collaborative environment. The Role As an Assistant Pavement Engineer, you will support senior colleagues in the design, assessment, and delivery of pavement schemes, ensuring projects are delivered to high technical and safety standards. You will gain valuable experience across pavement condition assessments, renewal projects, and the preparation of design documentation. Your responsibilities will include: ·Assisting with the preparation of drawings, reports, calculations, and specifications. ·Supporting senior engineers in developing pavement maintenance and rehabilitation plans. ·Contributing to surveys and data collection for pavement and asset management. ·Learning to apply national standards and industry guidance to technical solutions. ·Helping to promote best practice in health and safety across projects. ·Liaising with colleagues and clients at project meetings, with opportunities to build professional networks. We're looking for a motivated individual with: ·A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. ·Some knowledge or experience in pavement design, highways, or asset management (placement or graduate-level experience considered). ·Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software (desirable but not essential). ·A willingness to learn and apply technical standards such as DMRB and Manual for Streets. ·Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute positively to project delivery. ·An interest in developing towards professional accreditation (CEng, IEng).
