Job Description

We’re partnering with a leading, people-focused consultancy that delivers high-profile infrastructure and site development projects across the UK. They are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join their team and support the delivery of multiple projects within a major programme. This role is full-time with a flexible working arrangement: typically 3-4 days on site and 1-2 days working from home. What You’ll Be Doing As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and to a high standard. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting project delivery across planning, scheduling, budgeting, quality, risk, and resource management Assisting in the development and maintenance of Project Execution Plans and Performance Measurement Baselines Coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams and liaising with internal and external stakeholders Helping to identify, assess and manage project risks, providing solutions and escalation where needed Supporting commercial and contractual decision-making to help ensure successful project outcomes Monitoring progress against project schedules and budgets, and reporting updates to senior management Ensuring projects comply with governance frameworks, quality standards, and health & safety requirements How You’ll Work You’ll join a consultancy that values learning, collaboration, and professional growth. You’ll work closely with senior project managers, commercial and technical teams, and contractors to gain exposure to multiple facets of project management. You’ll have opportunities to: Take responsibility for specific work packages or smaller projects under guidance Build experience across design, construction, and site delivery phases Learn from experienced project managers while contributing your own ideas Develop skills in risk management, project controls, budgeting, and NEC contracts Commercial & Contract Exposure Assist in managing project budgets, schedules and scope Support cost-effective delivery while managing risk and opportunity Gain experience with NEC forms of contract (NEC4 preferred), including change management and compensation events What They’re Looking For Some experience in construction or infrastructure project delivery (assistant/early-career PM roles preferred) Understanding of project planning, controls, risk, change, and performance management Strong organisation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams Knowledge of NEC contracts or willingness to learn Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline Professional Project Management qualification or equivalent practical experience Why Join This Consultancy?
