We are currently seeking an interim Assistant Project Procurement Manager, to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 18 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £45,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.
The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

Job Scope:
This role will be responsible to achieve our Capex strategy on significant investment at Unilever Port Sunlight Factory. The role will be expected to support Procurement Manager with delivering key targets related to Cost and Cash, Quality and Service, Innovation and Sustainable Living. This role forms a key business partner with the local Engineering team and leads the day-to-day management and development of the site Procurement strategy.
The Assistant Sourcing Manager will increase efficiency of our Capex & MRO procurement by driving scale where it makes sense, decreasing fragmentation, pooling expertise across sites (linking in with the remainder of the Procurement team), prioritizing higher impact spend areas, leveraging technology and data, and delivering on best practices.
Roles & Responsibilities
Support Procurement Manager in developing and executing supplier / site strategy for CAPEX/MRO (Maintenance and Repairs Operations) portfolio
Purchase request management & approvals in line with levels of authority
Assess supply market and adapt strategy according to market conditions.
Assess supplier capability and suitability through potential site visits and reporting back on findings.
Unlock cash and cost value through setting up and execution of benchmarking, RFQs, E-tenders. Support delivery of savings and creditor extension programme for portfolio
Support and lead key supplier negotiations
Provide market intelligence to market / portfolio manager and business leaders to assist in strategic decision making.
Connect with site engineering and regional engineering teams and other business partners as well as with suppliers, to understand future technology and capability roadmap that supports value delivery.
Allocate new services to suppliers to deliver best cost/service/quality in line with supply strategy.
Support on-boarding of new suppliers by driving full quality and RPP compliance
Ensure contractual compliance through signing of Unilever Purchasing Agreements and Commercial Term Contracts as well as Special Term Contracts
Negotiate contracts in full supported by legal along with leading and decision making for commercial negotiations with suppliers
Regularly connect with global counterparts to ensure the portfolio is link with the global strategy and implement global strategy.
Manage relationships with Supply chain and other business partners, to leverage and land strategic plans.

Procurement Insights and Analysis: Understand portfolio strategies and procurement requirements; lead analysis & supplier selection
Procurement Strategy Formulation: Developing services supply strategy; Develop supplier strategies; Integrating procurement strategy into the business.
Procurement Strategy Execution and Performance Management: Competitive bidding and tendering; Supplier negotiation; Supplier qualification and on-boarding; Contractual supplier engagement; Supplier performance measurement and management
Partnering with Suppliers to Win: Attract, select, manage and motivate partners; Identifying value creating opportunities.
Stakeholder management, liaising with site engineers & relevant directors and educating stakeholders on procurement procedures where appropriate
Role requirements:
Fluent in English writing and speaking.
3 years' experience in Procurement, Engineering or Finance.
Experience of change management projects
Experience in CAPEX/MRO (Maintenance, Repairs and Operations) portfolio or FMCG
Experienced in stakeholder and supplier management.
Strong communicator with experience in working successful in virtual team environments
Skilled at challenging business stakeholders and driving change
