The Role
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. Based on a hybrid working arrangement, the successful candidate will split their time between the Hertfordshire office, project sites and home working while supporting the delivery of planned works contracts.
Reporting directly to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will gain exposure to all aspects of commercial management, assisting with valuations, subcontractor management, commercial administration and cost control. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their skills within a structured and supportive commercial team.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Assist with the commercial management of planned works and refurbishment projects.
* Support the preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts.
* Assist in the procurement, administration and management of subcontractors.
* Monitor project costs and support effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
* Prepare and process subcontractor payments and variations.
* Assist with forecasting, budgeting and commercial reporting.
* Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
* Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
* Build effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams.
* Ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual requirements.
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working on planned maintenance, refurbishment or social housing projects is desirable
* A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and develop professionally.
* The ability to work collaboratively within a commercial team while managing your own workload
