Assistant Quantity Surveyor – High-End Residential

Location: Dorset / Somerset
Sector: High-End Residential – New Build & Refurbishment
Project Values: £1m–£10m+

The Role

Our client is an established specialist high-end residential contractor based in Dorset, delivering prestigious new build and refurbishment projects across Dorset, Somerset and the surrounding areas.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The successful candidate will have previous Quantity Surveying experience within constructio, ideally with exposure to high-end residential projects,or a recent Graduate.This is an excellent opportunity for an AQS looking to develop their commercial experience while working on high-quality, bespoke residential schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Assist with the commercial management of high-end residential new build and refurbishment projects.

  * Support the Senior QS / Project QS with the day-to-day commercial management of projects.

  * Assist with subcontractor procurement, package management and negotiations.

  * Review subcontractor quotations and prepare orders.

  * Manage and track variations, change orders and additional works.

  * Assist with cost reporting, forecasting and budget monitoring.

  * Assist with the preparation and agreement of subcontractor final accounts.

  * Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.

  * Work closely with the project delivery team to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.

  * Assist with the preparation of project reports and commercial documentation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  * Previous Quantity Surveying experience within construction is essential.

  * Ideally 1+ years' experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Graduate QS.

  * Previous experience within high-end residential construction would be highly advantageous.

  * Exposure to new build and/or refurbishment projects.

  * Experience working on projects in the £1m–£10m+ range is desirable.

  * Good understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.

  * Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline is desirable.

  * Ambitious and keen to progress their career towards Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS level.
