Picture the scene. You’re standing in front of a construction site. The noise is deafening, the air smells of concrete. Things are happening.
You’re not just an observer. No. You’re the one who knows what it costs to build the structure before you. You’re the one who has the answer when somebody asks - “How much is that?”. Why? Because you, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, have been trained in the ancient arts of cost estimation, budget tacking and contract wizardry.
But let’s rewind a bit. How did you get here? Just a few years ago you were starting out. A little fresh-faced, perhaps a touch green but ambitious enough to know you could make your mark. You joined a team and learnt your trade and you were given the opportunity to learn, grow and show off your new-found skills.
Fast forward to today and you’ve grown comfortable with the numbers, the spreadsheets and the technical jargon. You’re no longer asking how things work and you’re able to spot a potential cost overrun from a mile away. You’ve become an invaluable ally to the Senior QS and help to keep everything on track.
And now, you’re ready for the next step………and that’s where I come in.
