Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor Groundworks
Location: Suffolk
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: Interviewing and hiring urgently
Clearfield Recruitment are hiring on behalf of a General Builder in Suffolk. Ideally, we are looking for an Assistant Surveyor who has a background in Groundworks and Civil Engineering to take on this role- however open to all backgrounds for the right person.
Our client has a proven track record on delivering successful commercial and residential projects and pride themselves in professionalism, safety, and teamwork. They are also keen to promote with in, and ideally provide a fast track route for an Assistant Surveyor- progressing into Surveyor.
As they continue to grow, they are seeking a proactive and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support our commercial team in the effective delivery of groundworks packages across multiple sites around the Suffolk and Essex area.
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Project Managers to support the commercial management of Groundworks projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation
Monitoring project costs, variations, and valuations
Conducting site measurements and valuations
Preparing and issuing subcontractor enquiries and purchase orders
Assisting with monthly CVRs and reporting
Liaising with site teams to ensure accurate cost reporting and compliance
Supporting in the preparation of final accounts and project close-out
Requirements
Essential:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a QS role (ideally within groundworks or civil engineering)
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software
Good communication and organisational abilities
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Experience working on residential or commercial groundwork projects
Familiarity with NEC or JCT forms of contract
