Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Warrington
Salary: Up to £40,000 + package
Sector: Residential / New Build Housing
Role Overview
We are working with a well-established Tier 2 main contractor who is looking to bring an Assistant Quantity Surveyor into their commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a few years' experience in the construction industry to gain hands-on exposure to Housing projects and develop under the guidance of a supportive senior team.
You'll be involved in all commercial aspects of the projects, assisting with cost control, subcontractor management, procurement, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and tender documents.
*
Assist with the evaluation and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.
*
Help manage subcontractor accounts, including measurements, valuations, and variations.
*
Assist in the preparation of monthly cost/value reconciliations and project forecasts.
*
Ensure that procurement and commercial processes are followed and documented correctly.
*
Support the team with contract administration and preparation of final accounts.
*
Work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and the site team to monitor site progress and financial performance.
The Candidate:
*
1-3 years' experience working as an Assistant or Trainee Quantity Surveyor.
*
Experience within the residential sector or general contracting is desirable.
Skills & Knowledge:
*
Basic understanding of construction contracts (JCT).
*
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
*
Good communication and organizational abilities.
*
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
Qualifications:
*
HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a similar field.
*
Keen to progress towards a professional qualification (e.g. RICS or CIOB).
