Our client is a leading Main Contractor based in Blackpool, specialising in retail fit-out projects across the UK. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work and maintaining long-term relationships with major retail clients, they offer a secure and dynamic working environment.

The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work alongside an experienced team of Quantity Surveyors, supporting a range of projects at any one time. You'll play a key role in commercial management, measurement, cost control, and procurement across multiple retail fit-out schemes, including a major framework agreement with one of their core retail clients.
The role will suit someone looking to take the next step in their career within a forward-thinking contractor, with opportunities for ongoing training and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Take measurements and produce estimates.
Prepare tender and bid documents, including bills of quantities.
Assess and value variations during project delivery.
Obtain competitive sub-contractor quotations.
Assist with purchasing materials and managing supply chain relationships.
Visit sites to monitor progress and compare against project plans.
Support site preparation activities where required.
Identify and report on areas of material and labour cost efficiencies.
Provide input on environmental impact, waste reduction, and sustainable practices.
Represent the company professionally at all times.
Undertake any additional duties as required by the commercial team.
About You
Ideally qualified to HND or degree level in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee QS, or similar role.
Experience within retail fit-out or general construction preferred, but not essential.
Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
Good knowledge of construction methods and contract procedures.
Proficient in MS Office and relevant QS software.
Positive attitude with a desire to learn and progress within the business.
