Hill McGlynn are working closely with a well-established regional main contractor to recruit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Maidstone.
With a strong pipeline of secured work across education, healthcare, residential and commercial new build projects, this is a great opportunity for an AQS looking to develop their career in a structured, supportive environment.
🛠️ The Role
You’ll work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers on multiple live and pre-construction schemes, gaining hands-on exposure to all stages of the commercial process.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
* Assisting in the preparation of budgets, cost plans and tender submissions
* Helping to procure and manage subcontractor packages
* Supporting the valuation and variation process
* Maintaining accurate project cost records and reports
* Attending site meetings and liaising with site teams
* Ensuring commercial processes and procedures are followed
👤 Ideal Candidate
* 1–3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial construction role
* Experience with a Tier 1 or reputable regional main contractor preferred
* Strong understanding of construction processes and contracts (e.g. JCT)
* Relevant degree or working towards qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management)
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced construction environment
