Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Healthcare Refurbishment & Fit-Out Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 + Full Package Location: Cheshire Your new company This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected UK main contractor delivering high-value, fast-paced construction projects across the North West. Your new role Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a £20 million healthcare scheme in Cheshire. The project includes refurbishment, RAAC mitigation, and a fast-track fit-out, offering fantastic exposure to a technically demanding programme. You'll support senior commercial staff across all project stages, gaining hands-on experience and mentoring as you develop your QS skills. Responsibilities will include: Assisting in the preparation of subcontractor packages, tenders, and cost estimates. Supporting valuations, measurements, and cost reporting. Helping manage subcontractor accounts, payments, and change management. Tracking costs and variations throughout the build process. Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and consultants to ensure accurate cost control. Keeping records and documentation in line with internal procedures. Supporting commercial reporting and procurement processes. Attending site meetings and contributing to the delivery of commercial objectives. What you will need to succeed: Some experience in a Quantity Surveying role-ideally on new build, refurbishment, or fit-out projects. Degree-qualified or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field. Strong numeracy, communication, and organisational skills. Good working knowledge of construction methods, with a strong interest in groundworks and/or healthcare environments. A professional, proactive attitude and willingness to learn. Familiarity with JCT or NEC contracts (desirable but not essential). A network or understanding of the housebuilding and main contracting sectors is a bonus.
