Assistant Team Manager

Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Responsibilities
The role involves delivering and improving services for children, young people, and their families through high-quality social work interventions. This includes leading a team of professional social workers and support staff to provide necessary services within legislative, corporate, and budgetary guidelines. Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing a team to ensure effective safeguarding and support for children to reach their full potential.
Recruiting, developing, and motivating staff to meet the changing demands of the service.
Allocating resources and workloads to ensure service delivery within budgetary limits.
Ensuring team members record all case work and undertake assessments, analysis, and care planning on necessary systems.
Adhering to the Quality Assurance Framework and conducting regular case file audits.
Ensuring performance measures are met to drive a high-performing team.
Managing risk and child protection through effective assessment and care planning.
Providing frequent, reflective, and challenging supervision to enable informed decision-making.
Developing effective partnership working to safeguard children and vulnerable adults.
Ensuring team members address resistant behaviors in families and take necessary action to safeguard children.
Maintaining a supervision structure for high-quality reflective supervision and performance appraisals.
Supporting effective prioritization processes and managing risks when demand is high.
Ensuring effective communication and engagement within the team.
Providing oversight, guidance, and support to prevent family breakdown or escalation of issues.
Respecting diversity and addressing discriminatory issues in service delivery.
Promoting corporate working and understanding of the child or young person’s journey.
Encouraging behaviors that promote inclusion and value diversity.
Promoting high standards within the team in line with organizational values and behaviors.
Working in accordance with health and safety provisions and cooperating with the Council's duties.
Undertaking additional duties as required by the Team Manager.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have substantial knowledge and experience in the following areas:
Demonstrable management and leadership skills within a social work setting.
Post-qualification experience in a front-line social work setting.
Experience in recruitment, performance appraisal, and management of operational staff.
Detailed knowledge of primary legislation and policy relevant to the service.
Computer literacy and performance management skills, including data analysis capabilities.
