Salary- £40k-£42k plus £1,500 if hold HV/LV Ap tickets
General Overview
To assist the Technical Manager in delivering an efficient and effective operation and maintenance of hospital HV & LV electrical systems, and the promotion of good engineering practices whilst ensuring compliance to statutory and healthcare engineering.
Main Responsibilities/Duties:
* Support the estates management team in the provision of a 24hr maintenance service, within a healthcare site in Portsmouth, for the SPV.
* Ensure safe systems of work are used, in line with HTM’s, recognised codes of practice, quality (ISO 9001) system and all statutory legislation such as Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH Regulations, Electricity at Work Act, etc.
* Carry out the duties of Authorised Person, for the systems assigned to you (following training, assessment and formal appointment).
* Oversee the day-to-day management of the engineering systems under your control, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
* To provide technical support in resolving complex issues with regards to the estate infrastructure.
* Monitor equipment maintenance records / service reports to ensure any follow-on action is completed promptly, and recorded within the CAFM system and associated documentation for systems under your control.
* Manage and oversee external sub-contractors and other professionals
* Ensure that contractor and in-house engineering team are competency checked, and they are appointed as Competent Persons as appropriate.
* Develop and maintain productive relationships with other stakeholders, i.e. Technical Managers, Engineering Manager, Senior Operations manager, Head of Estates and site delivery teams
* Assist in the continuous development and delivery of the site life-cycle plan, providing technical and managerial support where required
* To work in areas occupied by patients and staff, having regard for the health, safety, dignity and confidentiality of occupants within that area, and to the Data Protection Act
* To carry out any other such reasonable tasks and duties relevant to the post, as may be determined by the Head of Estates.
* To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, and participate in professional training as required for the role.
* To adhere to Company policies and procedures at all times
* Promote a culture of customer service to both internal and external customers and partners and to liaise with other departments regarding maintenance issues if required
Qualifications:
Essential: ONC/HND in an engineering discipline (or equivalent)
Experience:
Essential:
* Previous experience in management of Hard FM Services
* Good customer care and flexible approach to working practices
* Strong Electrical background
* Excellent contractor management skills
* 18th Edition BS7671
* Experience as Authorised Person for low voltage systems
* Experience as Authorised Person for high voltage systems (11kV)
Desirable:
* Good understanding of HTM, HBN and relevant British Standards
* Experience of working in a busy acute hospital
* Experience of working on a PFI contract
* Knowledge of other healthcare engineering systems would be an advantage
* City & Guilds 2391 Inspect & Test
