About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Associate Director – Fire Engineering to lead and grow our fire consultancy team. This is a senior leadership role offering strategic responsibility across technical delivery, team development, client engagement, and business growth. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in fire engineering, strong leadership capability, and a proven track record of delivering complex fire strategies across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the delivery of innovative, compliant, and robust fire engineering strategies across a wide portfolio of projects.

Provide technical oversight on all fire safety deliverables, ensuring best practice, quality, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., Building Regulations, BS 9999, BS 7974, NFPA).

Act as primary technical and commercial point of contact for key clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
*
Mentor and manage a team of fire engineers, promoting knowledge-sharing, development, and performance.
*
Support strategic business planning, resource management, and P&L responsibility for the fire division.
*
Represent the firm at industry events, technical panels, and networking forums.
*
Contribute to fire safety innovation, sustainability goals, and digital design approaches (e.g., BIM integration).
Requirements:
*
Degree qualified in Fire Engineering, Building Services, or a closely related field.
*
Minimum 10 years’ experience in fire engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or Associate/Director role.
*
Extensive knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, design codes, and guidance (ADB, BS 9991/9999, BS 7974, etc.).
*
Experience across multiple sectors including high-rise residential, commercial, healthcare, and infrastructure.
*
Proven ability to manage clients, teams, and multiple complex project portfolios.
*
Chartered or working toward Chartership (e.g., CEng, MIFireE).
Desirable:
*
Experience with international fire codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC).
*
Involvement in façade fire safety, external wall assessments (PAS 9980), and Building Safety Act compliance.
*
Understanding of performance-based fire engineering and use of simulation tools (FDS, Pathfinder, etc.).
*
Strong commercial acumen and experience in supporting bids, tenders, and business development initiatives.
