Job Title: Associate Ecologist / Associate Director (Ornithological Specialist) Salary: £(phone number removed) Location: UK (flexible) Type: Permanent | Hybrid working available About the Role: This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in ecological assessment and habitat design for a range of development and nature recovery projects. You will be responsible for driving forward innovative, pragmatic approaches to ecological mitigation and compensation while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. You'll manage and mentor colleagues, lead ecology workstreams, and ensure delivery of high-quality, concise ecological outputs in line with industry best practice. About the Client: Our client is a leading international consultancy known for delivering transformative infrastructure and environmental solutions. Their award-winning ecology division includes over 130 ecologists - from emerging specialists to leaders within the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). Key Responsibilities: Undertake ecological assessments and habitat design for varied projects. Develop innovative mitigation and compensation strategies. Lead ecology workstreams and manage project deliverables. Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and liaise with clients and stakeholders. Oversee quality assurance of ecological deliverables. Provide mentorship and line management support to junior team members. Contribute to bids and project management from inception to completion. What Our Client is Looking For: Passion for ecology and conservation. Strong ornithological expertise. In-depth knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological guidance. Ability to conduct UKHab surveys, PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs, and BNG assessments. Excellent report-writing and communication skills. Experience in protected species survey, mitigation, and licensing.
