Working Hours: Full-time, term-time only
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of neurodiverse children and young people? A specialist independent school in Stockton-on-Tees is seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join their team supporting learners aged 5-19.
This setting offers a highly personalised and inclusive approach to education, with a strong belief in recognising the unique strengths and potential of every individual. Their curriculum is tailored to promote social and economic inclusion, independence, and lifelong learning.
The Role:
You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support students with autism and associated needs. This includes:
Providing 1:1 and small group support
Assisting with communication and sensory needs
Supporting behaviour through positive strategies
Encouraging independence and participation in learningIdeal Candidate:
Experience in care work, SEN, or supporting neurodiverse individuals
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Comfortable with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
Training in restraint or behaviour management is beneficial (but full training is provided)
Will have an enhanced DBS (child and adult) registered on the Update ServiceWhy Apply?
