Special educational needs school Well-resourced lessons Small school with very small class sizes Supportive school community A dedicated team of Teachers in the class The Autism Support Worker Job: A SEN school in Dibden Purlieu is looking for an Autism Support Worker to start from September. This is a full-time position and will run for the remainder of the academic year. and into the new academic year. You will be working with young students with learning difficulties (ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs) to ensure they are meeting their learning goals. The Autism Support Worker Skills: This vibrant school is looking for a passionate individual who has a good understanding of ASD and complex needs. You will be working with teachers, specialists and support staff on a 1:1 or classroom basis with their motivation and learning. You will have the opportunity to assist these students in activities that will further their independence and ability to be lifelong learners. Role details: Autism Support Worker School Type: Special Educational Needs (SEN) School Salary Scale: £82.80 to £100 per day Start Date: ASAP/ September 2025 The school: • This school, based in Dibden Purlieu specialises in dealing with young people who have complex needs • Support from a multi-professional team and a team of experts who focus on the whole well-being of the young person and understanding their needs Key Responsibilities as an Autism Support Worker: To support students who struggle with their class work Facilitate a fun and friendly learning environment To provide support to the class teacher To help the class teacher prepare lesson materials and classroom boards To keep the classroom a tidy and presentable environment To encourage children to do their best Help manage classroom behaviour Listen to the children read and practice their phonics Qualifications & Skills required for Autism Support Worker role: Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential). Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals. A patient and nurturing approach to working with children. Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
