Autism Teaching Assistant

Are you a patient, empathetic, and resilient individual passionate about making a difference in a child's life? A welcoming SEN school in Middlesbrough is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support their pupils with autism.
This is a rewarding role where you'll play a key part in helping the children feel safe, understood, and supported-both emotionally and academically.
About the Role:
Provide dedicated support for SEN children with autism
Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and transitions throughout the day
Support access to learning activities and adapt tasks where needed
Use structure, consistency, and visual supports to meet the child's individual needs
Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement strategies and interventions
Monitor and record progress, triggers, and behaviours in line with school policyWe're Looking For:
Experience working with children with autism or similar additional needs
A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to behaviour management
Confidence in using behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
Good understanding of SEND
A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning
Team Teach or similar positive handling training (advantageous but not essential)We Offer:
