GSL Education are looking for an experienced and patient Autism Teaching Assistant (Autism TA) to join a fantastic specialist school in Poole. In this role, you will be working closely with students on the autism spectrum, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs. You will assist with communication, behaviour management, and social interaction, while helping to create a consistent and positive learning environment. Responsibilities of an Autism Teaching Assistant: Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism. Assist in the implementation of EHCP targets and tailored learning strategies. Use visual aids, structured routines, and sensory tools to support learning and behaviour. Encourage communication, emotional regulation, and independence. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN staff to ensure consistent progress. Support with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and professionalism. Requirements for an Autism Teaching Assistant (Autism TA): Experience supporting children with autism or other special educational needs. CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistance, Childcare, or Health & Social Care is desirable. Knowledge of autism spectrum conditions and relevant support strategies. Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to student care and learning. Strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting wellbeing.
