Job Description

Join Our Brilliant Team as an SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Salford | Full-Time | September Start Available Ready to make a real difference every single day? If you’re someone who finds purpose in supporting others and thrives in a role where no two days are the same, this could be exactly what you’re looking for. We’re recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for a specialist secondary school in Salford, working with students who are autistic and have moderate to severe learning needs. The work is meaningful, varied, and incredibly rewarding. About the Role As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you’ll play a vital role in the daily life of the students — providing both academic and emotional support in a structured, nurturing environment. You’ll be supporting young people aged 11 to 19, many of whom experience sensory processing differences, social communication challenges, and varying levels of independence. Day-to-day, you’ll work alongside experienced teachers and therapists to support individual learning plans. This might include helping a non-verbal student access the curriculum using visual aids, supporting emotional regulation through structured routines, or assisting during community visits and life-skills sessions. You'll be involved in lessons across the school day, often supporting small groups or working one-to-one. You’ll also be part of a close-knit team that includes pastoral staff, speech and language therapists, and behaviour specialists. The school offers strong, consistent support and places a high value on building trusting relationships with its pupils. You’ll be trained in the strategies used across the school, and you'll be actively encouraged to contribute to the progress and wellbeing of each student you work with. No Qualifications? That’s Absolutely Fine. We’re not focused on your academic background - we’re looking for experience, empathy, and commitment. If you’ve supported children or young people in any UK-based setting, whether through formal work, volunteering, or personal life, we want to hear from you. You’ll also have the ongoing support of a dedicated consultant who knows your school, your role, and your goals. They’ll check in regularly, offer advice, and help you grow professionally throughout your placement.
