Backend Java Developer 

12-Month Contract

Onsite | Nenagh, Ireland | 5 Days per Week

We're seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to join our client's engineering team in Nenagh.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-transaction, enterprise-scale payment platform used globally.

What You'll Do

Develop and maintain secure, high-performance backend systems for payment processing.
Design and optimise scalable microservices and APIs using Java, Spring, and Hibernate.
Ensure systems meet strict non-functional requirements-scalability, availability, and performance.
Collaborate across teams to integrate backend services with payment gateway components.
Support the adoption of Nexo and other payment standards to future-proof the platform.
Troubleshoot complex backend issues, perform code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices. 

What You'll Bring

5+ years' experience as a Java Backend Developer in a high-transaction or enterprise environment.
Strong skills in Java, Spring, Hibernate, and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with payment systems, APIs, and protocols.
A problem-solving mindset with excellent teamwork and communication skills.If you're passionate about backend engineering and enjoy tackling performance-critical challenges in FinTech, we'd love to hear from you.
